A rising sun in Indian politics comes to an end; India witnessing a deep mourning after getting the news of sushma sawarj is no more among us as we lost our remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering lives of the poor and takes last breath while serving the country.
Sushma Swaraj was a former external affairs minister and senior BJP leader, passed away last night. She was at age of 67. The senior BJP leader was brought to AIIMS late last night and was immediately taken to the emergency ward after primary treatment AIIMS doctors said that she died of a cardiac arrest.
Some of her major achievements
She was born on February 14, 1952 at place called Ambala in Haryana, she earned a bachelor’s degree with majors in Sanskrit and political science from SD College thereafter completed degree in law at Panjab University in Chandigarh
Started carrier in politics with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in the 1970s where she performed an integral part of George Fernandes’s legal defense team during 1975.
Later Sushma Swaraj won Ambala Cantonment assembly seat and became a member of the Legislative Assembly of Haryana from 1977 to 1982 at the age of 25. She again got victory second time from the same place in 1987. She was then in Janata Party Government headed by Devi Lal sworn as the Cabinet Minister and also became the state president of the Janata Party in Haryana in the year1979, when she was only age of 27 years.
In the year of 1998, she turned the first female chief minister of Delhi.
In 1990 after Elected as the member of Rajya Sabha and later swaraj got elected as the member of Lok Sabha in 1996 from South Delhi Constituency. Sushma Swaraj performed the role of Union Cabinet Minister for Information and Broadcasting under the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee during their 13-day government in 1996.
Later she handle post of Union Minister I&B & Telecommunications as she became the Union Cabinet Minister Under the second government of Vajpayee for Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Telecommunications in 1998.
Again she became the Union Cabinet as Minister for Information and Broadcasting in the year 2000.
In 2003 she became the Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs and set up six All India Institute of Medical Sciences at Bhopal (MP), Bhubaneshwar (Odisha), Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Jodhpur (Rajasthan), and Rishikesh (Uttrakhand) and also served as the Deputy leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha till April 2009.
Sushma Swaraj became the Leader of Opposition in the 15th Lok Sabha starting from 21st December 2009 till May 2014.
Later sushma swaraj handle the Indian External Affairs Minister portfolio under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014. Moreover, she became the second woman to take this position after the then PM Indira Gandhi.
She also became the first Indian to address the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in history and was presents diplomatic victory for India, as it was the country’s first invite in five decades but also because it came amid high Indo-Pak tensions.
